Image: Courtesy of Monroe Library, CoML In addition to conducting the largest ever survey of life in the global oceans, Census of Marine Life scientists pored over ships logs, tax records, literature, monastery archives, and historical photos to piece together a picture of how life in the oceans is changing. This photo offers one hint of the findings: The size and abundance of "trophy" fish seen as recently as 1958 off of Key West can barely be imagined by today's sport fisher.
