In order to understand the meaning of THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS, first of all, we shall discuss the meaning of Thermal Imaging.

As we all know that it is the well-known fact of the physics that when the temperature of the body becomes greater than absolute zero i.e. -273 degrees Celsius then it starts emitting Electromagnetic Radiations. The amount of electromagnetic radiations emitted by the body changes with the change in the body temperature and Thermal Imaging is the process with the help of which these variations can be seen. The devices or cameras which are used to see and record these variations are called thermal imaging cameras. These cameras are based on the SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS which states that electromagnetic radiations transfer from the warmer object to the colder object. It means that when we put two objects together, then the object of higher temperature will start emitting electromagnetic radiations which will then be absorbed by the other whose temperature is lower. Ultimately, the temperature of the colder one will start changing due to absorption of these radiations. The level and the amount of heat for different regions and parts is shown by specifying different colors for different temperatures.

Therefore, these cameras consumes very less time as there is no need for calculations and observations. The thermal Imaging cameras are basically comprised of five components :

  • an image forming optical system
  • one or more detectors
  • amplifier
  • An electronic Signal processor
  • Display unit.

USES OF THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS:

When we place two objects together, where the temp of Thermal Imaging Cameras are widely used in these days by the real estate agents and sellers, military men, firefighters and the home-owners. The firefighters and the military men can use these cameras to see through the fire and smoke. During building constructions these cameras can be used to localize the heat leaks and in improvement of sir-conditioning. During 2009, the use of these cameras had increased at hospitals and the airports in order to find the patients of SWINE FLU. The cameras are also used to locate the over heating joints and parts of Power Lines. A primary use of Thermal Imaging Cameras is in the field of energy auditing.

ENERGY AUDITING:

Energy Auditing is the process of evaluation of energy consumption at home as well as in business so that certain measures can be taken to control its consumption. According to the records of U.S. Department of Energy, a family spends almost $2500 on its energy resources. The cost of energy is rising everyday because of its wastage and too much demand by the people. In order to save energy and money, many people across the World are looking for Home Energy Audit so that they can save their energy and money. Moreover, Energy Audit is also useful in improving the structure of the buildings as well as homes so that the leakages of Energy can be located. With the help of Thermal Imaging Inspection process, the gaps in the construction, incorrectly installed materials, damaged insulation, missing insulation etc. can be located.

The Thermal Imaging Inspection Process also helps you in checking the performance of the Water Heaters, Air-conditioners, leaking Pipelines, Power lines and some other applications. The leakages from the building can be minimized with the help of Thermal Imaging Inspection process as it helps the owner in minimizing the heat loss which takes place through roofs and other parts of the building and helps in optimizing the heat or energy production. For proper energy audit, the houses and the buildings must be constructed with proper care and planning. Energy Audit in houses as well as in Business has now become a trend because of increasing demand of energy and due to rising cost of energy. The Thermal Imaging Inspection has become a tool of too much importance and significance for ENERGY AUDIT of home and business because it has enabled us to see the transfer of heat energy and level or amount of heat energy at a particular place in the form of visual image by specifying different colors for different levels of heat. The Thermal Imaging Cameras improve Energy Efficiency of homes and business enterprises by preventing and solving the problems of heat loss and by reducing the wastage of energ
